You must know how to use a stove.
When useful
When you want delicious popcorn without the trans fat, disgusting "butter" flavor, and sodium of microwave popcorn.
When you need to pop large quantities of popcorn.
  1. Buy a bag of popcorn kernels and your trans fat-free oil of choice (extra virgin olive oil recommended).

  2. Pour 1/8 inch of oil in the bottom of a medium sauce pan and drop one kernel of corn in the middle.

  3. Heat the pan over medium high heat.

  4. When the single kernel explodes, pour a single layer of popcorn kernels into the pan.

  5. Cover the pan.

  6. Let the pan heat, swirling and shaking gently occasionally.

  7. When the pops slow to one every second or two, remove the pan from the heat immediately.

  8. Pour the popcorn into a large bowl.

  9. Salt to taste.
